Come See Your Future is a hybrid musical theatre and virtual reality piece that unfolds in a sci-fi, dystopian world ravaged by climate change. The project explores capitalism’s impact on the environment and how political division inhibits humanity’s ability to live sustainably and find solutions to the climate crisis.
Every audience member steps inside the world of the show in VR as the experience weaves live performance and interactive virtual reality sequences, propelling the story forward. With VR, the audience embodies each character's perspective, creating a form-bending immersive experience.
SYNOPSIS
Set in a dystopic future on a commercial space station revolving around a climate change-devastated Earth, we meet prodigy astrophysicist, Ana. When Ana is named the recipient of the “Gray Prize,” a grant awarded to fund scientific research on climate solutions, Ana lacks the inspiration for invention. In a world plagued by political unrest, climate devastation, and wealth inequality, Ana wants nothing more than to be the solution.
When Ana attends a party with her girlfriend Gwen, they try a new drug, called “Destiny,” that is meant to let the user “see their future.” In Ana’s drug trip, she sees herself building an invention that she believes could save dying humanity on Earth. Yet as Ana builds her invention, her relationship with the drug becomes more and more complicated.
The climate clock on Earth keeps ticking, and political tensions boil over, forcing Ana and her group of friends to choose sides - to be radicalized and join the revolution, or to sit on their beds of privilege and uphold the systems of oppression.
Against this backdrop of revolution and radicalization, Ana has to separate her genius from her growing drug habit - and try to save humanity - all at once.

Each audience member will have a headset at their seat and wear it at moments throughout the experience, creating a seamless transition between the physical and virtual worlds. The musical will unfold in a custom-built, one-of-a-kind virtual world, immersing audiences in a storytelling experience unlike any other.

This unprecedented use of virtual reality is more than spectacle - the piece relies on the use of the technology to propel characters forward in their storylines. Time for takeoff
We spent the last year investigating the transition between live theatrical performance and virtual reality, and how we can create not only a seamless transition but a transition that heightens the audience’s experience of the narrative. We are particularly interested in how the VR technology can allow audience to experience the story from a first-person perspective, letting them interact and engage with the world like never before.
